Getting The Best Leather Briefcase
The mental image that is conjured up when one thinks of the leather briefcase is that of the all powerful business man as he strides up towards his corner office or the big shot lawyer who walks through the halls of justice. The basic message is people who own leather briefcases are powerful and know how to get to the top.
The briefcase has been associated with the corporate gentleman since the early 1900′s. In the morning when the man of the house left for his day at the office, his attentive and loving wife would stand at the front door and bid him farewell after she had helped him with his coat, umbrella and black leather briefcase.
The brown leather briefcase was not so readily associated with power and wealth as it would become in later decades. Even the poorest pauper had a vintage leather briefcase albeit one which was held together by string and cotton!
Later in the 1950′s, the briefcase made another powerful appearance as the Boomers as they would become known, insisted on a certain image for the corporate man. So with hat, jacket and leather briefcase, they too were sent off to work y their doting wives. As at the turn of the century, everyone had a leather briefcase even if it was one from the beginning of the 1900s.
Briefcases have kept their importance in the workplace as the decades have moved along. Even though there is not such a great need for paper and files in the technological age, many people have had a laptop compartment added to make a leather laptop briefcase as they still prefer the look and image associated with the leather briefcase. Another modern trend is toward high end Italian leather briefcases for the most discriminating buyer.
Leather briefcases come in all different shapes, sizes and styles. From the heavier and harder box like style of the lawyer’s briefcase, to the lighter and thinner style of the corporate giant, these men’s briefcases all serve a very important purpose. Not only do they hold the very important paperwork, files and in some instances laptops of these powerful and respected people but the leather briefcase also helps to ensure that the image which they are trying to portray is confirmed by the presence of the leather briefcase.
Leather briefcases don’t necessarily have to conform to the design of being a case with one handle. The designs also include straps for the leather briefcase making it possible to swing the bag over your shoulder; two handles on the bag allow for a more secure hold on the case should it contain a heavier load and then the more feminine two handled shoulder bag which doesn’t necessarily conform to the more traditional design of a briefcase but has been largely influenced and serves the same purpose in a more feminine manner.
In essence the leather briefcase has been around for more than a century but is something that has the same timeless message of power and position even if its purpose has evolved from carrying papers and files to carrying laptops and iPods!
